Research has shown that avoiding prolonged periods of sitting may help prevent type 2 diabetes for those at risk and may help blood sugar control in those already diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Move around as often as possible.
Tips to Make the Habit Stick
• Try to avoid sitting for longer than thirty–sixty minutes. Stand up, take a bathroom break, go get a glass of water, take a short walk, or do a few stretches to reenergize and stay healthy.
• Setting a timer can be helpful to remind you to take breaks from sitting at regular intervals.
